The Center for Prison Outreach and Education maintains a Student Fellowship Program, which provides opportunities for students from any academic discipline to gain in-depth experience in program management and capacity building while supporting the Center itself.
Student Fellows assist program leaders through a variety of activities, including:
- Research projects
- Program development and support
- Maintaining the Center’s web presence
- Recruiting students to become involved in the Center’s programming
- Serving as liaison between participating prisons and the CPOE
Student Fellows typically receive academic credit in the form of an Independent Study course or internship for their efforts throughout the semester. This course, which constitutes a committment of 75-100 hours, is supervised by a faculty member. The position is assignment-based, and allows for flexibility in scheduling.
Those interested in applying to serve as a Student Fellow should send an email indicating their intent to cpoe@tcnj.edu for more information and to schedule a meeting with program leaders.
